Scoville Park

Oak Park, IL
Scoville Park, originally designed by Jens Jensen, has become the central park and heart of the Village of Oak Park. It is the contemporary “village green” and a setting for a series of public buildings including the Oak Park Public Library. Altamanu has redesigned the public plaza, pathways and setting for the library and it’s interaction with the park.
Altamanu’s design views the park as a living entity composed of iconic public spaces lined within a canopy of flowering trees. A new Pleace Plaza, with curved benches and native floral displays surrounds the WWI memorial. The design allows the memorial greater accessibility and links the space to a meadow of flowers and grasses.
Newly redesigned entryways feature interpretive signage welcoming residents to the park. New tennis courts, a prairie style custom playground, pathways, trees, a performance stage and contemporary LED lighting have been added to the park.
